SCHWING pumps the largest guitar building in the world

At the Seminole Indian Tribe near Hollywood, Florida, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is the world's first true guitar building. "It will be the first building in the world that’s truly to scale designed as an authentic guitar", says James Allen, CEO of Seminole Gaming and chairman of Hard Rock International. "So it’s not just an exterior façade, the curving of the building will be identical to an authentic guitar." Responsible for the construction is Baker Concrete Construction, Inc., based in Monroe, OH, and its joint venture partner Liberty Conshor, Inc., Bonita Springs. Concrete logistics at the construction site were commissioned by Florida-based Cherokee Pumping LLC. With a height of 450 m, the guitar tower will be the centerpiece of one of the most elaborate casino complexes in the world and will house a total of 638 hotel rooms and suites. The foundation plate of this extraordinary building rests on 237 bored piles. Since the completion of the 4th floor, a stationary SCHWING concrete pump SP 8800 and a separate placing boom SPB 37 have been used for the concreting, which are being installed and operated by Cherokee Pumping LLC. The SP 8800 is a high-performance concrete pump that can reach pump heights of up to 500 m at a maximum pressure on concrete of 243 bar. On concreting days, the concrete pouring team usually commences concreting at 3:00 am because regular supplies of concrete through the truck-mixers are only guaranteed in the morning until the beginning of commuter traffic. In total, more than 36,000 m³ of concrete will be used for the one-off project until completion. " Our ancestors and elders welcomed curious tourists to our Florida reservations, and today’s members of the Seminole Tribe of Florida will soon welcome visitors from all over the world to what will become a landmark destination," said Marcole Osceol, chairman of Seminole Tribe.
